Ivan Sergejev holds the position of Deputy Secretary General for Spatial Planning at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. The role aims to shape Estonia's land and spatial policy by revising Estonia's spatial planning regulation with the goal of speeding up planning procedures, advocating for high-quality sustainable spatial development, and shaping the strategic vision of the country's land use policy.
In his previous position as Just transition process coordinator at the Estonian Ministry of Finance, Ivan was responsible for the overall management of the JTF process in Ida-Virumaa, Estonia. This included, among other things, engaging stakeholders (incl. various ministries, agencies, universities, local partners, etc.), compiling the territorial just transition plan (TJTP) and monitoring its implementation, coordinating the design of specific JTF interventions, raising awareness about the fund and EU policy in general, participating in negotiations with potentials investors, as well as leading trilingual JTF communications both locally and internationally.
An architect and city planner, Ivan has gained previous professional experience in Estonia, Netherlands and the US.
