Nikos currently works with the Energy Transition & Development Transformation Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Polytechnic School of University of Western Macedonia where he explores national and EU-wide research and innovation activities, focusing on the interplay of energy technology advancements, policy making and energy investments and their alignment with place-based governance models in the energy trilemma context. He has expertise in clean, secure and affordable energy, decarbonisation of the electricity industry, research and innovation.
His work focuses on the design and implementation of EU energy policies and regulations, including in Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. He worked in various JTF regions, including Western Macedonia, Megalopolis, Stara Zagora, and Silesia. Additionally, he is part of the SITRANS project where he focuses on the creation of local sustainable energy investment projects, as well as policies and measures focused on alleviating energy poverty.
