Martin Šikovc currently works as Head of the Zasavje Just Transition Center at the Zasavje Regional Development Agency in Slovenia. He was directly involved in Zasavje Coal Region's TJTP preparation and adoption. He authored an article addressing the labor market dynamics in the Zasavje Coal Region spanning the years 2000 to 2021. This piece underscored the pressing need for job creation in the wake of mine closures, elucidating how these closures resulted in substantial job losses and a daily migration of the workforce to neighboring regions. Furthermore, he was involved in the planning and advocacy of a strategic project known as the 'Centre for Research, Development, and Training in Renewable Technologies', which will be implemented by the National Chemical Institute within the Zasavje region. In collaboration with regional stakeholders, they identified three strategic locations for the construction of new business zones. The development of these business zones is earmarked as a flagship initiative within the Zasavje TJTP.
