Lefteris Topaloglou currently holds the position of Associate Professor and is the Director of the Institute of Energy Development & Transition to Post-Lignite Era. Lefteris is a member of the European Commission’s Academic Sounding Board for Cohesion and Transition Community of Practice (C4T). Appointed to the Coal Platform Working Group, Lefteris has supported the just transition of the region towards a low-carbon economy. His involvement spans across transformative projects such as SITRANS (Life), De-Carb (Interreg Europe), Green Rural Deal (EUKI) and Just4All (Erasmus+), promoting sustainable energy and governance. Actively engaging in the University's Innovation Zone project, he's fostering an innovative ecosystem blending research, education, and entrepreneurship. With a decade as the Director of the Association of Municipalities of Western Macedonia, he has gained experience regarding just transition consultations, social inclusion, and upskilling and reskilling initiatives aligned with green policies and a net-zero economy.
