Gerard Corcoran is an innovation and sustainability leader with more than 40 years of experience in global technology industries and the green transition. He has lived and worked across Western Europe and brings a strong background in digital transformation, regional innovation ecosystems, and public-private partnership structures. Over the past two years, Gerard has played a key role in Ireland’s Just Transition programme, particularly in the Shannon Valley and West Offaly, where he has focused on developing new talent pathways through the ICT Academy, deploying AI-enabled Digital Twin solutions to support climate-aligned planning, advancing the Communiversity model to foster lifelong learning and community innovation, and promoting regenerative tourism alongside the sustainable reuse of heritage assets.
Beyond these efforts, Gerard is actively involved in several national and European initiatives, including the Sandyford Business District, a leading green and digital innovation hub; the Mayo Green Energy Park, which integrates wind, solar, hydrogen, battery storage, and community benefits; and the Western Atlantic Green Energy Park, aimed at building clean-energy and data connectivity across the Atlantic region. He also supports the Western Development Commission’s Connected Hubs Network, comprising over 400 hubs that enable remote work, innovation, and rural entrepreneurship, and contributes to the Western Macedonia–Ireland Just Transition Exchange, facilitating knowledge transfer on post-coal economic transformation, skills development, and green industry attraction.
Gerard is committed to strengthening European cooperation by sharing Ireland’s Just Transition experience and helping peer regions accelerate social, economic, and environmental resilience.
