Scotland’s Climate Change Act commits to reaching net zero by 2045. It sets clear milestones and estimates of emissions reductions in key sectors such as electricity, buildings, transport, industry, waste and land use, agriculture, and forestry.

Odense is located in Southern Denmark, part of which is a Just Transition Fund region, Sydjylland. It is an active growth region in a central location. Odense, the region’s largest city, has transformed its former steel shipyard.

BOLSTER is an EU-funded research project carried out by a consortium spanning partners in 11 Member States. It looks at how marginalised communities are affected by the transition and whether involving them in decision-making enhances support.

In Finland’s Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Just Transition Fund region, this project focuses on addressing high unemployment, particularly among youth. It targets the vitality of Oulu, especially in rural areas with small, internationally focused companies.

Reskilling 4 Employment responds to Europe’s growing skills gap. It was started by the European Round Table for Insutstry, a cross-sectoral forum of CEOs and Chairs of around 60 of the largest European companies from industry and technology.

In Just Transition Fund region Silesia, this project focuses on the protection and development of cultural resources, including the reconstruction and extension of the Coal Mining Museum and redevelopment of the former Royal Steelworks.

The St. Michael's Fortress restoration project helped transition this area from a neglected space facing economic challenges due to factory closures and industrial decline. Through the project, it was transformed into a new, dynamic part of Šibenik.

This report outlines the results of six technical assistances to Just Transition Fund (JTF) regions delivered in 2023 under the Just Transition Platform. The projects were delivered in Sokolov; Vidzeme and Latgale; Łódzkie; Médio Tejo; Hunedoara, Gorj and Dolj; and Västerbotten.

This catalogue provides regions with inspiration on funding approaches to effectively use the JTF funding they have been allocated. Examples from the Slovakian and Slovenian JTF regions and Asturias, Ústí, Ida-Virumaa and Groot-Rijnmond are highlighted.
