Tamara Schaal-Lagodzinski currently works as Project Manager for Regional and Structural Policy at the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development within the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning. The institute supports Germany’s three lignite mining areas with academic expertise and assists local communities in creating an exemplary transformation process towards more climate protection and a modern economic structure. This includes, inter alia, analysing transformation dynamics through applied research, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating regional and model projects and comparing similar processes of structural change in Germany and abroad. For several years, Ms. Schaal-Lagodzinski has worked as a researcher and project manager on a range of topics including sustainable community development and just transition. She worked in transdisciplinary and participatory research projects, conducted multi-stakeholder workshops and co-authored a range of academic publications, policy briefs, project brochures and practical guidelines.
