Marcial Silva Mercado currently holds the position of Just Transition Research Lead for Dark Matter Labs, a partner in the European mission-funded NetZeroCities supporting 112 cities to achieve their goals of climate neutrality. In this role, he actively contributes to research efforts aimed at supporting mission cities to better organise their climate-action portfolios to ensure that transition initiatives deliver equitable opportunities for all. Within Dark Matter Labs, for the NetZeroCities consortium, Marcial focuses on capability-building for city administrations, with an emphasis on just transition and climate initiatives. His work includes supporting the design of comprehensive climate-action portfolios and multi-stakeholder Climate City Contracts, while also providing guidance to cities in mobilizing stakeholders effectively.
