Magdalena Chawuła is an experienced expert in empowering citizens and communities to actively shape energy transition, bringing together energy policy, social inclusion and regional development to create resilient and future-ready places. She has contributed to the review of TJTPs in Polish regions and has actively participated in discussions related to financing activities central to Just Transition (JT).
During her tenure in Silesia, she addressed challenges associated with transitioning the economy from coal based to a modern, diversified model with a focus on green energy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and innovation. Magdalena also served as a representative for the European coal sector at EURACOAL, where she navigated the complexities of social, environmental, and research policies. At the World Bank she worked on a comprehensive Just Transition framework, ensuring a holistic approach that encompasses governance, community considerations, and environmental reclamation.
Currently she leads the People, Cities, Regions Programme at Forum Energii that focuses on social aspects and sustainability of energy transition in cities and coal-dependent regions.
