Jan Bondaruk currently works as Director for Environmental Engineering at the Central Mining Institute – a Polish national research institute. For many years, he has been supervising research, studies, and analyses related to the issues of sustainable development, management of natural resources, revitalization and reuse of post-mining areas and assets, circular economy, new business models, and innovation policy. Through participation in advisory and consulting bodies, he supports processes of adapting coal regions and the mining industry to the energy transformation. He continuously participates in the evaluation of projects financed by various support instruments (national and EU funds, including the Horizon 2020 program). He participated in works supporting the preparation of Territorial Just Transition Plans in Poland (Silesia, Lower Silesia, Wielkopolska, Łódzkie, Małopolskie, and Lubelskie) and the National Just Transition Plan for Poland.
