The Just Skills Hub establishes an ecosystem for planning and action to carry out inclusive and equitable workforce transitions. The Hub supports all stakeholders, including policy makers, companies, worker representatives and individual workers.

In 2016, the Sardinian regional authority for labour and employment published an initiative for the development of the Green and Blue Economy, sectors that offer good growth prospects in Sardinia, including Just Transition Fund region Sulcis-Iglesiente.

Upskill 4 Future set out to help companies develop reskilling and upskilling initiatives for vulnerable workers at risk of losing their jobs due to technological progress and company restructuring, preparing them for changing roles and new jobs.

In Just Transition Fund region Savinjsko-Šaleška, the closure of Velenje coal mine will bring comprehensive economic and social restructuring. As a result, Velenje is moving away from coal mining and transitioning to become a climate-neutral city.

Jiu Valley, in Just Transition Fund region Hunedoara, has already experienced mine closures and their negative effects on the local economy and people. Through several activities, the valley is now working to undergo the transition in a just way.

The Just Transition Fund (JTF) programme for Silesia allocated EUR 2.4 billion to facilitate the green transition. The JTF will support environmental restoration from mining and economic diversification by investing in SMEs working in green sectors.

The Green Tech Valley includes Just Transition Fund regions Styria and, partially, Carinthia. Styria is an industrial region home to numerous manufacturing companies, but also has an active start-up ecosystem and research and innovation landscape.

Leilac is working towards a sustainable future for cement and lime production. Its goal is to develop a unique, cost-effective technology to reduce carbon emissions and enable producers to take immediate action against climate change.

Next Energy aims to enhance young talent, entrepreneurship and the growth of teams, start-ups and companies with innovative projects, in particular in the field of energy transition and sustainability.
